Half-day fishing charter
Four hours on the flats, in the inlet or along the beach. The right trip for families, first-timers, a morning before the parks or a group that wants action without the whole day.
A half day with Capt. Fred starts at first light, when the water is glassy and the fish are feeding. You launch from Ponce Inlet or New Smyrna Beach, run ten minutes and start fishing. Fred picks the spots the night before based on tide, wind and what he saw on his last trip.
Most half days target redfish, snook, trout, black drum and jacks on light tackle: live shrimp and bait, sight-casting when the water is clear. In summer, a half day in the inlet can put you on a tarpon or a shark, but if the silver king is the goal, book the full day.
You are back at the ramp around 11 am with your catch cleaned and bagged, which leaves the afternoon for the beach, Orlando or a nap.
How the day goes
- 6:30 to 7:30 am start, depending on the season
- About 10 minutes from ramp to first spot
- 3 to 4 productive hours on the water
- Back at the dock by late morning, fish cleaned
Included
Florida fishing license, rods, reels, tackle and ice. Fish cleaning at the dock. Bring sunscreen, polarized sunglasses, a hat, drinks and snacks, a cooler for your catch.

Half Day FAQ
Is a half day enough to catch fish?
Yes. Inshore water is close and Fred does not waste time running. Most half-day groups land a dozen or more fish.
Can we do an afternoon half day?
Outside of the summer heat, yes. Ask when you text; mornings are usually better for the bite.
Is it good for kids?
It is the best trip for kids: calm water, constant action, home before anyone gets tired.
